Sunset Quad Ride in Merzouga
Ride the dunes in the warm late-afternoon light and stop on a high crest to watch the sun go down over the Sahara.
The last hour and a half of daylight is the best time to ride: the sand is cooler, the wind usually drops and the dunes turn from yellow to orange and then to deep red. We leave about ninety minutes before sunset and ride through the valleys of Erg Chebbi towards one of the high crests.
There we switch off the engines and sit on the sand to watch the sun disappear behind the mountains. Your guide takes the photos while you enjoy the silence, and we ride back in the blue light of dusk. It combines very well with a night in our camp: we can drop you directly at the camp after the ride.

Questions
Do I need experience to ride a quad?
No. The quads are automatic and you get a briefing and a short practice on flat sand before entering the dunes.
Can children ride?
Drivers are usually 16 or older. Younger children can ride as passengers with an adult on a duo quad or in a buggy. We confirm the details when you book.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, long trousers and sunglasses. We give you a helmet, goggles and a Berber scarf against the sand. In winter bring a warm layer for sunset.
What is the best time of day?
Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
