Quad biking around Erg Chebbi
A quad gives you a different view of the desert: in a short time you go from the soft valleys between the dunes to the open plains of the black desert and the high crests where the sand falls away on both sides. It is a fun and easy way to see a big part of Erg Chebbi, even if you have only one afternoon in Merzouga.
The quads are automatic, so you only accelerate and brake. Before leaving, your guide explains how to sit, how to climb and how to come down a dune, and then rides in front of you choosing the line. Helmet, goggles and a Berber scarf are included. You can also share a quad with a passenger, and children can ride with an adult.
Questions
Do I need experience to ride a quad?
No. The quads are automatic and you get a briefing and a short practice on flat sand before entering the dunes.
Can children ride?
Drivers are usually 16 or older. Younger children can ride as passengers with an adult on a duo quad or in a buggy. We confirm the details when you book.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, long trousers and sunglasses. We give you a helmet, goggles and a Berber scarf against the sand. In winter bring a warm layer for sunset.
What is the best time of day?
Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
