Half-Day Quad Expedition around Erg Chebbi
Four hours around the whole sea of dunes: the high crests, the black desert, the village of Khamlia and the southern dunes.
This is the ride for those who want to see the real size of Erg Chebbi. We leave in the morning, when the sand is still firm, and ride south along the dunes, alternating sandy valleys, fast tracks on the hamada and short climbs to the crests. Your guide stops wherever the view deserves it.
At the southern end of the dunes we reach Khamlia, a village of former slaves from the south who brought the Gnawa music with them. We rest there with mint tea and listen to the musicians before returning along the eastern side of the erg, through dunes that few visitors ever see. Some previous experience on a quad or a motorbike is useful.

Questions
Do I need experience to ride a quad?
No. The quads are automatic and you get a briefing and a short practice on flat sand before entering the dunes.
Can children ride?
Drivers are usually 16 or older. Younger children can ride as passengers with an adult on a duo quad or in a buggy. We confirm the details when you book.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, long trousers and sunglasses. We give you a helmet, goggles and a Berber scarf against the sand. In winter bring a warm layer for sunset.
What is the best time of day?
Morning and late afternoon, when the sand is cooler and the light is beautiful. In summer we ride only at sunrise and sunset.
